Data tables: 2006 Census
The Victorian Multicultural Commission has acquired 29 data tables on ethnicity variables from the 2006 Census, compared across a range of socio-economic variables. The data is available by Local Government Areas. Users can download the data tables for free, and should be able to extract data from these tables to format new tables according to their own specific requirements.
How to manipulate the datacubes
The datacubes are provided by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) in Summary Record Database (SRD) format. To view and manipulate these files, you will need to install the SuperTABLE software from Space-Time Research. For instructions on how to download the free SuperTABLE software and to re-format the datacubes, go to www.abs.gov.au, and search for ABS Training and Self-directed training. Alternatively, you may download the free SuperTABLE software now by visiting www.str.com.au
