Migrants and refugees have made an enormous contribution to the Victorian community in areas such as business and politics, education and research and sports and the arts.

Skilled Migration Strategy


The Global Skills for Victoria, Skilled Migration Strategy was launched by the Premier and the Minister for Skills and Workforce Participation in October 2007.

Global Skills for Provinicial Victoria


Global Skills for Provincial Victoria is a key component of Victoria’s Skilled Migration Strategy.
Global Skills for Provincial Victoria aims to support sustainable industry growth outside metropolitan Melbourne by helping regional communities attract, settle and retain skilled migrants; and helping meet identified skill shortages by matching skilled migrants with regional job opportunities. Federal Government


The Commonwealth Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs manage a range of research projects on immigration, population and settlement issues. They also provide a range of immigration, multicultural and population data to other government agencies and the community.
