Senior Citizens Grants

Senior Citizens Organisational Support grants are part of the Office of Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship’s Community Grants Program. It provides financial assistance towards the general activities and needs of senior ethnic, multicultural and non-profit community organisations. The maximum grant available is $5,000 per year for three years.

Senior Citizens Organisational Support Grants may be used for the following:

Running costs (such as rent, lighting, heating, catering, utilities, telephone, stationery and postage)
Purchase/hire of minor office equipment, kitchen equipment and other equipment for group activities
Provision of information sessions/ seminars/training courses.

Who is eligible?

In order to receive a grant from OMAC, and most other funding bodies, your group will need to:

be incorporated as separate entities registered with the Office of Consumer Affairs Victoria or be auspiced by an incorporated group;
have an Australian Business Number (ABN). Application forms for ABN can be obtained at the Australian Taxation Office.

Assessment Process

Applications for Multicultural Senior Citizens Organisational Support closed September 30, 2011.

The recommendations of OMAC will be presented to the Minister for Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship for approval. Each group will be notified by mail to indicate if they were successful or unsuccessful in receiving a grant. Groups will be notified of the outcome of their applications January 2012. Cheques will be presented February/March 2012.
