New ABS Census 2016 resources target CALD communities

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) in collaboration with TasTAFE, has developed new resources spefically targeted to raise awareness about the 2016 Census among cultually and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.

The new resources are a lesson plan with information on the upcoming 9 August Census that can be provided to CALD communities as part of English language classes.

As part of the initiative, the ABS and TasTAFE hope to raise awareness about participating in the Census and the importance of accurate Census figures for CALD communities.

The lesson plan aims to meet diverse needs of English language students and is offered in three formats to match low, middle and high English proficiency.

To obtain a copy of the lesson plan, contact Robert Hughes in the Census 2016, Victorian Regional Management Unit of the ABS on (03) 9615 7436, 0439 273 707 or robert.hughes@abs.gov.au
