Sailing into History

A NEW exhibition has sailed into Melbourne highlighting the experiences of migrants who arrived to Australia’s shores by boat.

Sailing into History: Displacements and Arrivals is featuring at the Museo Italiano (Co.As.It) in Carlton until Saturday 20 August.

Hosted by Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV), the exhibition aims to recognise – with the exception of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities – that all Australians originate from somewhere else.

Part of MAVs ongoing “What Happened at the Pier” series, individually curated personal histories and effects form a significant portion of the exhibition, offering a unique insight into the experiences of migrants who arrived in Australia by boat up to the 1970s.
