Seeking VMC Commissioners

Several exciting opportunities have now opened to assist the Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) in its role as a vital conduit between culturally diverse communities and the Victorian Government.

The VMC is currently seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified candidates for the positions of Member Commissioner and Youth Commissioner.

Member Commissioner

Member Commissioner positions are a non-remunerated part time role for up to four years, until 31 August 2021.

Member Commissioners assist the Commission through a range of activities, including working with Regional Advisory Councils, promoting the Commission’s objectives and undertaking wide-ranging consultations with Victoria’s diverse communities to determine their needs.

The role provides information and advice to the Commission’s Chair, including on matters of current and emerging issues within the multicultural affairs sector and communities, and proactively promotes harmony among diverse communities.

Member Commissioners also enable the Commission to fulfil its objectives by representing across Government and the community and participating actively in the Commission and community functions and events.

Youth Commissioner

The VMC Youth Commissioner role is also a non-remunerated part time role, which is available for up to four years until 31 August 2021.

This exciting role for youth engagement is available for people aged 18 - 24 years.

The Youth Commissioner undertakes wide-ranging consultations to determine the needs of Victoria’s diverse youth communities and advocates for harmonious relations between them.

In addition, the role promotes creative and innovative pathways for communities working with youth to learn, engage and promote cultural and religious diversity in Victoria.

Assisting the Commission to achieve its objectives, the Youth Commissioner also represents publicly across Government and the community and participates actively in Commission and community functions and events.
