World-renown pianist, Roman Salyutov, will give his only Australian performance on Sunday 12 August, 4pm at South Melbourne Town Hall. It is the 16th concert to be presented by Sputnik Russian Cultural and Television Association which has produced more than 2000 Russian-language Sputnik television programs on Channel 31 over the past 23 years. Salyutov, who will be on his way back to Germany from Wellington, has performed in Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Hungary, Lithuania, Israel, USA, Japan, New Zealand and Australia. For the Sputnik concert, he will perform works by Beethoven, Schubert, Liszt, Mozart, Chopin and Ravel. Salyutov is of Jewish descent and recently became involved in a musical partnership with Israel and Israeli musicians through the Yachad Chamber Orchestra. It had its first tour of Israel in June. “This is the first German-Israeli orchestra under its own name. Our goal is to build bridges between Israel, Germany and other countries, develop relationships, promote cultural exchange, and help counter anti-Semitism,” he said. Tickets:
