New post-settlement survey of migrant and refugee women

THE Australian Multicultural Council has commissioned new research to help find practical ways to empower migrant and refugee women.

Conducted by the Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS), the key aims of this project are to identify the gaps as well as good practices, services and programs in the post-settlement period.

The research will focus on two specific groups of particularly vulnerable migrant women:

  • current or former refugee and humanitarian entrants who have completed their involvement with Settlement Services and have been in Australia for five years or more; and
  • women who are current, or former, family stream migrants who have been in Australia for five years or more.

Researchers are also keen to hear the views of service providers who target their services and programs at women who meet this criteria via an online survey.

The online survey is now open and will be available until Tuesday 20 September.
