Free courses for culturally diverse Victorians
Jesuit Social Services are offering free courses at the Jesuit Community College to help Victorians from culturally diverse backgrounds gain vocational skills and training, improve their English, and prepare for employment.
The college offers short vocational courses with industry focus on café operation, barista and coffee art, hospitality, animal studies, retail and the cleaning industry.
Results show that the college’s trainers have consistently achieved a 75 per cent student completion rate, while 74 per cent of students have moved into full time or casual employment or taken up further education within three months of completing the program. In addition, 90 per cent of students feel they have been given more skills to build rapport and 83 per cent feel they have been given more skills to secure a job.
